I’ve been touching tons of mobile phone to test and benchmark against the company standard and my deeds. Here is my perspective for heart-beating new mobile phone in early 2022

After tested tons of phone, I found myself suitable one, Samsung S21 5G replacing my swelled battery Xiaomi Black Shark 3. And I swear to 360 gods that I will not playing games on Android phone again which causing that battery issue on every model. Playing games on iPad Pro (2018) still never has battery bloating.

However, I decided to end up with S21 5G because it meets all my needs.

  • IP68 dust/water resistant (I often take photos during raining)
  • 120Hz refresh rate (I love that smooth scrolling feeling)
  • Gorilla Glass Victus (withstand my cats claws, moderately)
  • 8GB ram (I found 12gb ram is wasted)
  • Great camera modules to capture my cats

What I don’t like but acceptable are:

  • Battery is Li-Ion which charging fully far slower than Li-Po
  • Useless Bixby
  • No infrared port (often use mobile phone as a universal remote before)
  • Bluetooth 5.0 (I prefer 5.2 with aptX HD for audiophile junkie)

POCO F4 GT was announced last night (26th Apr) in order to conquer Asus ROG Phone 5s Pro and Xiaomi Black Shark 5 Pro with almost the same main feature for gamers — the gaming triggers or what we called L, R buttons.

Xiaomi Black Shark 3 disappoints me a lot. The Gamer’s Phone should not met bloating battery. So, what POCO caught me in the first place is its cooling system called LiquidCool Technology 3.0

Compare with rivals which still need extension fan attached on the back, this is way better. Especially when it comes to price comparison.

For Gamers, bigger screen doesn’t mean advantage.

I had been observing, actually organizing, esports events seeing that players come with variety of phone sizes. Some prefer smaller screen because they use 4 fingers taping on screen. Some even more advance, using 4 fingers on screen and 2 fingers on L-R buttons, but it’s very rare case. I do like small screen when playing shooting games.

POCO F4 GT is quite handy with 162.5 x 76.7 x 8.5 mm (6.40 x 3.02 x 0.33 in) and, of course, Gorilla Glass Victus. But not withstand dust/water trade off with Pop-up gaming buttons. Other specs is quite on par with Black Shark 5 Pro. Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 comes in general.

When it comes to camera, Black Shark 5 Pro does better in the rear.

I believe we are rarely use 108MP or 64MP mode in the real life because it hurts our storage. I have 4 google accounts filled fully with pictures and videos ~ approximately 60GB. And now I’m using OneDrive 1TB to store them. Thus I give them on par in camera comparison.

Another thing that impress me is 4 speakers

I remember the first time I turn on YouTube Music on iPad Pro (4 speakers) and it sounds impressive. Even lack of bass, I often listen to music from time to time. Especially when I have to entertain my kid with CocoMelon. iPad Pro 4 speakers make him dance more than 2 speakers on my S21.

The Cons

  • I don’t know why there is no 3.5mm port in gaming phone these day.
It’s mandatory! The brands should have asked esports organizers before developing new products.
  • It’s side-mounted fingerprint sensor. I prefer under display one. Simple reason is under display needs only one hand to activate the phone.

Conclusion

I’m waiting for USB-C iPhone model.

People might laugh at it or call it foolish logic, but that’s enough for me. That’s what romanticism is about!
